The interior of the Gulf has long been marked off limits for submarine patrols because the military thought dotted with mines. In April, the HARDHEAD covered the approaches of Bangkok in May 1945, the submarine Baya, LAGARTO and HAMMERHEAD entered the Gulf and found targets. Working as a team with the Baya for attacks on convoys, the LAGARTO was lost and Baya was damaged by cons more important measures than expected. However the HAMMERHEAD sank a small freighter off the Malaysian coast on May 6, and in the same area trickled TOTTORI MARU, a passenger cargo 5,973 tons May 15 After that, the traffic between Siam and Singapore has been "reduced to almost nothing."
