Koh Phi Phi

Is a special island apart. There are no roads, so no motorcycle or car, which

actually a quieter and more "relaxed" place elsewhere. It does not make less of a place

more attractive: you can go rock climbing, walks, "snorkeling" (fins,

mask, snorkel), kayaking, waterskiing, fishing, windsurfing, parachute

upward ..... and of course diving. Or just relax on one of its beautiful beaches ... Do not miss this if

relaxing "Thai massage"! Whatever you choose, you will love your stay here.

Incidentally, the water temperature is about 28 degrees!

Eat…

Phi Phi has a lot of restaurants of all kinds. Since the Italian pizza, passing

the chicken breast has cream, or traditional Thai dishes, you have a choice.

We even have two bakeries with croissants and pains au chocolat "as has

home! "All have a common denominator: the quality-price ratio.

Sleep…

Whatever budget you have planned for your vacation, there is something for every price point.

From simple bamboo huts on "Long Beach" to the air-conditioned luxury hotels ...

But beware: in high season, it can be very difficult to find a room! It is then

safer to book a travel agency from the mainland rather than

  find homeless ....

 koh phiphi moon party

Drink…

There is no "club" itself on Phi Phi but the nightlife is not less hectic ....

Some places go movies, some restaurants serve wine (there is even Ricard!). In "Carlito's", you can listen to good music while sipping a beer or cocktail, feet in the sand, and then dancing to "Tintin's bar" or "Reggae" until late, or rather early in the morning .......

Getting to the island

Most people arrive from Phuket. There are two departures per day, one at 08:30 and the other

to 1:30 p.m.. The boats now leave the new port of Phuket Town. Beware

take the boat that will take you to "Tonsai Bay," because there are also other boats that

go to the northern tip of Phi Phi, and there you have to take a "longtail boat" to get

  the village.

It can also happen to Krabi (4 boats per day) or Ao Nang Beach (starting 0830), of

Railey Beach (8:45), the Lanta Island (0800 and 14.00).

Phi Phi Island (เกาะ พีพี)  (Pronounced pi-pi) is a small archipelago of Thailand located in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Krabi province, to which he belongs. Very touristy, it has two main islands, Ko Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh, the others being mostly rocks. Phi Phi Don (or Koh Phi Phi Don, Koh means "island" in Thai) is the largest island of the archipelago and the only one with tourist infrastructure. It has been very hard hit by the tsunami on 26 December 2004. It is a mecca for scuba diving, also known for its towering limestone cliffs. However, the second largest island, Phi Phi Lee is the most famous qu'inhabitée. Its beautiful landscapes made him famous around the world and the archipelago is considered one of the finest in the world.

Recent developments

On 26 December 2004, at 10:37 (local time), Phi Phi Don was very exposed to a tsunami of 6.5 meters high, the result of the earthquake that hit Southeast Asia is off Banda Aceh, Sumatra, three hours earlier. The number of victims and missing in the disaster is estimated at 5,300 people a year and the duration of reconstruction of tourism infrastructure, almost totally destroyed on the tombolo, the strip of land separating the two bays in the center of the island.

the main island of Phi Phi Don was quickly rebuilt. The tourists were back in the year following the tsunami and every person had resumed his normal life. You can still find a few blocks idle and partially demolished buildings. A park in memory of the victims of the tsunami was erected in the heart of the village of Tonsai. A tsunami warning system has been set up and the villagers now know how to respond to such a disaster: the boards in the village indicate the path to follow in case of emergency: the highest point of the island (View Point).

Her neighbor Phi Phi Lee in turn was part of the movie The Beach, filmed on site Maya Bay in 2000 with Leonardo DiCaprio, Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet. Production (20th Century Fox) was accused of causing extensive damage to the island's ecosystem. Damage that continues today given the steady stream of tourists and boats of all sizes drawn on site daily, precisely because of this film.
