Bali, the heart of Indonesia
Diving sites
Buyuk
This site is at the eastern end of the slope that runs along the north of Nusa Penida. Be sure to look north when you are aboard to watch Mount Agung get lost in the clouds.
Accessibility
Buyuk is located on the north west coast of Nusa Penida in front of the village of the same name. 30 minutes by boat from Nusa Lembongan is enough to reach Buyuk.
Fauna
It is possible to see Mola and eagle rays in Buyuk. You will not miss observing fish angel, scorpion, trunk, clown, batfish, nudibranchs, shrimp mantis. Turtles and white tip sharks are seen from time to time.
Flora
Hard and soft corals extend as far as the eye can see along this slope. Other corals have invaded large rocks in the 12-meter zone. From 18 meters, look up the slope and admire the colors!
Depth
The site is superb between 5 and 20 meters. The most experienced divers can make a low point between 30 meters and 40 meters depending on their level to try to see a Mola.
Dive type
The current is generally very weak on Buyuk, whatever the tide. This site is perfect for an exploration dive. Open your eyes, and look in the blue from time to time!
Remarks
This site is for all divers. We take our Open Water students there, like other experienced divers.
