LIVE DIVING ADVENTURES ONBOARD
LIVEABOARD DIVING AT THE SIMILANS & BEYOND
Join a cruise trip and dive the famous Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock, and more…..
We own and operate our unique liveaboard, MV Andaman. She was designed by Sea Dragon and has been continually renovated and expanded. We organize 3 and 4 day cruises to the best dive sites in Thailand: Similan Islands, Surin Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock.
You can also combine two trips to make a 7-day package (with a reduced price!)
Whether you're a diver, snorkeler, or freediver, you're sure to find the perfect trip to suit your schedule and budget.
Join our 4 day/4 night trip and visit ALL the best dive sites in the area:
Similan Islands - 9 islands spread over 22 km. Snorkelers and snorkelers all love the coral reefs, granite rocks and white sand beaches
Koh Bon - pretty soft corals and hard coral reefs on this limestone island. Manta rays can visit between January and May. One of the best dive sites in Thailand
Koh Tachai - colorful corals, huge gorgonians and lots of fish. Sometimes visited by manta rays or whale sharks (January-May, unpredictable). A fantastic dive site
Surin Islands - calm, beautiful, with coral reefs, granite boulder sites and great beaches. Great snorkeling and diving
Richelieu Rock - world famous and truly spectacular. Always filled with marine life. Plus the "big" occasional visitors

Our boat the M/V ANDAMAN
26m long and with a steel hull, the M/V Andaman offers the smoothest possible ride through the waves
We take a maximum of 20 clients, 5 dive guides and 6 crew members. With 3 decks, you will never feel cramped on board. Our fun team have been with us for many years and provide very attentive service. Our dive guides are passionate about the ocean and they will share fun facts during each dive briefing
Delicious freshly prepared meals are provided by our cook, along with snacks and plenty of fresh tropical fruit. On the last night of our 3 and 4 day stays, we host our popular barbecue and cocktail party on the upper deck. It is a unique and memorable evening, much appreciated by our guests.
M/V Andaman has three full-length decks and the unusual feature of a two-level sundeck. We have FIVE different areas to relax! Socialize around the tables on the main deck. Relax in a hammock. Lie down on a solar mattress. Make yourself comfortable in an ottoman on the upper deck. Or take a break in your air-conditioned cabin
We have very high safety standards and are fully equipped with 2x life rafts, GPS, VHF radio, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, 100% oxygen, first aid kit, life jackets and a dinghy
We are sure you will love spending time on board with us as much as you will love diving at these world famous dive sites.
THE LOWER DECK
This is where we dive and sleep
All cabins are air-conditioned with personal reading lights, 220v power outlets and storage space. We have:
- two adjoining double cabins
- two standard double cabins
- two six-berth cabins with individual single berths
Each cabin has a window so you can see the sea
The three bathrooms with toilets and hot water showers are located in the middle of this bridge. Plus three sinks with mirrors, located separately
Aft is the dive deck, where your gear and tanks live. Only two groups will gear up at a time and our attentive crew will be on hand to help. So much so that they often seem to be everywhere at once! Here we also have fresh water tanks so you can rinse off your computers, torches and cameras after diving. The large dive platform has two ladders and two fresh water showers for a quick rinse after diving or swimming.
THE INTERMEDIATE BRIDGE
The middle deck is the central communal area, where we all meet for dive briefings and meals. Our large shaded dining area takes up most of this terrace, with the open sides making the most of the sea breeze. Don't worry, we also have rain covers, just in case!
In the service area, you can help yourself to hot drinks, iced soft drinks, cornflakes, fruit and cookies. The middle deck is a great place to relax, fill in your logbook and browse our selection of fish identification books. In the evenings we offer a selection of fresh local beers and you can swap diving stories, play backgammon or play cards.
The two large wooden dining tables, surrounded by cushioned seats, promote a lively and social atmosphere. Feel free to move around at mealtimes and meet your dive buddies.
The remainder of the center deck houses the staff quarters, galley and wheelhouse
THE UPPER DECK
Our favorite deck! Running the full length of the boat, our two-tier deck begins is quite unique
In the front, the open-air terrace has mattresses and beanbags and is the best place for sun worshippers. Enjoy the panoramic view, catch the sea breeze or have a quiet morning coffee watching the sunrise
Under a shaded sunroof, the upper deck center features a wooden table and benches. On the last night of the trip, we organize our famous barbecue and cocktail here
Then there's a large platform with padded mattresses and three HAMMOCKS! It is a popular place to read, relax and take an afternoon nap
And finally, aft is our much-loved open-air star deck, filled with comfy ottomans. A spiral staircase brings you back to the dining room terrace if you need to have another cold drink

Day of departure
You can check in any time before 4:00 p.m. on the day of departure. Drop your luggage in our locker and explore the city, go to the beach, get a massage and/or have dinner. We meet at the dive center at 7:30 p.m. ready for departure
If you have your own equipment, you will take it with you in our taxi to the boat. If you are using Sea Dragon equipment, the dive staff will bring it to the boat earlier and set it up for you. You must check it carefully yourself after the boat briefing
Your trip supervisor will give a short pre-departure briefing before we leave the dive center. Our trips south depart from Thap Lamu port, which takes around 20 minutes by taxi. Our northbound trips depart from Khuraburi Port, which takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes by air-conditioned minivan.
On board we will show you your cabin where you can store your luggage. The trip supervisor will then give an orientation of the boat and a briefing on the middle deck. The trip to the islands takes about 4-5 hours for Similans or Koh Tachai, 3-4 hours for Surins
A typical first day on board
A typical day will generally follow this pattern:
- 06:20 Early wake-up call, giving you time for tea/coffee and a snack
- 06:40 Mid deck dive briefing (an extended briefing on day 1 covers our dive and safety procedures)
- 07:30 Dive 1
- 09:00 Western-style cooked breakfast in the dining room
- 11:30 a.m. Dive 2
- 1:00 p.m. Thai-style lunch in the dining room
- 3:30 p.m. Dive 3
- 4.30 p.m. A snack is served on the middle deck, come and help yourself
- 7:00 p.m. Dive 4 – night dive
- 9:00 p.m. Thai-style dinner in the dining room
The schedule will change slightly for the following days as we only have a night dive on the first day.
Between dives you can relax on board, take the dinghy to the beach (if available), snorkel from the boat. Or just relax and enjoy the scenery from a hammock or ottoman.
On the last evening of the 3 and 4 day trips, we host a BBQ and cocktail party on the upper deck
Back on the last day
After the second dive of the last day of your trip, we head to the nearest port. From the Similans, we go to the port of Thap Lamu. However, from Richelieu Rock we go to Khuraburi Port. We serve lunch during the trip and you will have time to relax more and pack your things
Before we get to the pier, your trip supervisor will collect any unpaid money for beer, tuition, logbooks, etc. If you wish, you can tip the boat crew in their private tip box. We will also try to take a group photo as a souvenir of our fun trip together
We arrive at the dive center around 4:30/5:00 p.m. We will take a few minutes to retrieve your valuables from the safe and any luggage you have stored with us. Then we will take you back to your hotel in our taxi
Note for divers on consecutive package trips
If you make two consecutive trips, the boat will come to Khuraburi port for a few hours between your trips. You don't have to leave your cabin, but our cleaners will come on board to change bedding etc. At least one member of our dive staff will be with you and take you ashore at Khuraburi port. You will have time to explore and see a bit of the rural life of a Thai village
In the port of Khuraburi there is a cafe (with a good cake and THE BEST wifi!). You can dine at a local restaurant near the wharf and stock up at the supermarket. Later we will take you back to the boat to freshen up before the new guests arrive. We will leave at 9:30/10:00 p.m. for the second leg of your journey.
And you will be entitled to two barbecue and party evenings

DINNER ON BOARD
We know our freshly prepared meals on board will be a highlight of your dive trip - expect to put on a few pounds!
Before the first dive each morning, help yourself to a cup of tea, coffee or chocolate and a light snack from the service area
Breakfast is western with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and fries (yes, weird, but it's a favorite). Fresh brown bread, toasters and a selection of jams and fruit are available. We also prepare a pot of rice soup every morning if you would like to try a traditional Thai breakfast.
Lunch and dinner are Thai style, with a selection of our favorite recipes. Enjoy (not too) spicy curries, coconut soups, fresh vegetables and whole fried fish. We have fresh seasonal fruit for dessert after each meal
In the afternoon, it's snack time after the third dive. Cornflakes and fruit and always available. Oh, and the cookie jar is never far away! Let us know in advance if you have any personal dietary needs so our cook can prepare something suitable for you
On the last evening on board, we invite you to join us for a cocktail and barbecue on the open-air deck. This evening is a real team effort! The boat boys will prepare the barbecue, the dive staff will prepare our signature cocktail, while our cook will prepare homemade sauces. It's usually a fun and lively night and leaves fond memories of your time with us on a Sea Dragon cruise ship.
