4 Days 4 Nights Cruise to Koh Chang in Thailand

 Faune & Flore

la faune et la flore

Koh Chang is a fascinating destination not only for its picture-postcard long beaches, spectacular sunsets, enchanting waterfalls and mangroves, but also for its nearly impenetrable rainforest, which covers three quarters of its surface and is considered as one of the best preserved in all of Southeast Asia.

most of the island was formed 190 to 230 million years ago. Its main peaks are Khao I Aen (637 meters), Khao Chom Prasat 1 (661 meters) and Khao Salak Phet (743 meters).

Near the villages of Khlong Prao, Khlong Son, Salak Khok and Salak Phet extend magnificent mangroves, among the best preserved in Thailand

Around Koh Chang and the neighboring islands, the underwater landscapes, coral reefs and aquatic fauna delight divers. With bottle or with a simple mask and snorkel, wonder guaranteed!

Koh Chang National Park is home to exotic wildlife of remarkable diversity. A 1992 study showed that 29 species of land animals, 61 species of birds, and 42 species of amphibians and reptiles inhabit the island - including several kinds of pythons, rat snakes, cobras and other snakes, a wide variety of lizards, monkeys, anteaters, wild boars, bats, etc. The island can also boast of hosting an endemic amphibian, the Rana Kochang, or Frog of Koh Chang.

Infrastructure

The TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) has launched an ambitious development program for Koh Chang

to make it a major tourist hub. This is how maritime links between the island and the mainland - passenger boats and ferries - have multiplied. A hospital was built near the village of Khlong Nonsi, as well as a string of medical branches well distributed on the island. The electricity network now covers most beaches and villages.

Soon, the road that surrounds Koh Chang between the villages of Bang Bao, to the southwest, and Salak Phet to the southeast, will form a complete ring. Almost all of it is already paved. Along the way, many stalls sell gasoline, and soon real service stations will appear. Mobile telephone companies cover, or will cover very soon, the entire island. The installation of the fixed telephony network is scheduled.
Trat airport will make it faster and safer to come to Koh Chang.

In recent years, finally, the most beautiful beaches of Koh Chang have experienced sustained development. Good quality hotels and resorts are multiplying. The basic huts and bungalows of the early days are gradually disappearing in favor of more comfortable accommodation.
