PRESENTATION OF THE BIOTOPE
The giant manta is most often found at a depth of less than 40 meters but it is not uncommon to find it up to 120 meters. Most often, it swims close to the surface in search of plankton.
Thailand offers many spots for excellent scuba diving. Paradise tropical islands, with white sand beaches, water visibility often exceeding 30 meters, an average ocean temperature of 28°C, and calm waters.

Diving infrastructure has improved a lot in recent years, with the appearance of Resorts specially dedicated to diving enthusiasts, the training of diving instructors, the rental of boats and specialized equipment. Thus, the number of tourists coming to practice diving is constantly increasing.

Diving is practiced in three general areas: Pattaya, near the capital Bangkok, the Southern Islands in the Gulf of Thailand, and the two diving triangles in the Andaman Sea on the west coast of the Isthmus of Thailand.

Pattaya is close and easily accessible from Bangkok. It is a coastal city, about 2 hours drive from Bangkok. It is therefore a popular destination for those who want to spend a « quiet » weekend away from the frenzy of the capital. The site also allows the experienced diver to dive to wrecks, an activity missing in other sites in the country.
Pattaya is also lively at night, with its many bars, attracting many tourists.

Islands in the Gulf of Thailand include Ko Samui and Ko Tao.
On the west coast of Thailand, the islands Phuket, Ko Phi Phi, and Krabi allow diving in two triangles of the Andaman Sea.

The environments allow you to see corals of several hundred species, soft or solid, forming magnificent underwater gardens, with many Manta rays and multicolored tropical fish, which will impress even the seasonal diver.

Masks, snorkels or scuba tanks are easily rentable in diving centers, but also in guesthouses near the beaches. However, if you want a really suitable mask and quality material, plan the purchase beforehand in Europe.
UNDERWATER GEOGRAPHY
THE CORAL REEF ECOSYSTEM BORDERING KOH TAO ISLAND IS HOME TO ABUNDANT MARINE LIFE.
The dive sites are superb and many of them are accessible from the beach. Underwater rock formations are varied, from pinnacles jutting out from the sea floor, and sometimes breaking the surface, to stacks of rock creating passages and caverns that can be explored by experienced divers.
